On their honeymoon trip to Nepal in 1968, Hannah and Ole Nydahl were among the first Westerners to encounter Diamond Way Buddhism. Already in 1969 they became pupils of the first deliberately born Lama Gyalwa Karmapa, the “King of Yogis”. The power of the Kagyü or "oral" meditation school of Tibetan Buddhism was to change her life fundamentally. On adventurous journeys and in growing collaboration with the most important meditation masters, they got to know the world of Diamond Way Buddhism and became the bearer of its resources. After three exciting years of apprenticeship in the Himalayas, the Karmapa asked her to bring her teaching to the West. Since then, the two have been traveling around the world. To date, Lama Ole has founded over 400 meditation centers of the Tibetan Karma Kagyu School. He works tirelessly to ensure that Tibet's unique philosophy, psychology and, above all, transmission and meditation tools are not lost with the country and its idiosyncrasies. Hannah Nydahl was also asked by the 16th Karmapa to accompany and translate the leading Tibetan teachers. She continues this work today. The book combines a lively description of the years of apprenticeship in the East with exciting insights into the so rarely understood spiritual world of Tibetan Buddhism.
